Building Paranormal Community

Through my newsletter and the posts on my blog, I try to reveal a bit about myself and even more about my interest in the paranormal.

Someone recently commented to me that they liked Psychic Revolution because it isn’t “too Disney”. I think it was meant as a compliment – well, at least I took it that way.

The tag line for my blog is “where paranormal phenomena are the norm” and I think that pretty much sums up my approach to psi.

Guess you could say I’m a paranormal moderate!

A Community is Made Up of Individuals

From the many comments left on this blog and the emails I receive, I am guessing that we are building a community of moderates here at Psychic Revolution. But is this really the case?

I’d love to know more about you and your interest in paranormal activity. And, I’m also pretty sure the other members of the community would like to too.

How do you regard the paranormal?

Is it mainstream to you?

Are you too a paranormal moderate?

Do you have a Paranormal Blog or Website?

If you write about the paranormal elsewhere please leave a link and a bit of a bio about yourself below. I look forward to getting to know other members of the community a bit more.

Welcome Edward. I’ve just had a look at your website and it – or should I say more accurately your work – is impressive! As you’ll see, the community here is a mix of practitioners and clients – which seems to work nicely. I hope you’ve signed up for the newsletter, and had a chance to do the survey, and of course there is an open invitation to all members to do guest posting (I see you even have an article on tea leaf reading!) All the best. Cheers Rosemary

    Hi everyone!

I guess, I really am not a practitioner. I would love to be, but lack direction and a teacher. Also, as I am all over the board with my paranormal experience, I wouldn’t know which avenue to choose.

I have done readings that have come true, had OBE’s, prophetic dreams amongst other things.

Right now, the reason I am up writing this, is that all night long as I lay trying to sleep, I could smell cigarette smoke.

I went outside but could not find the source. No one in our house smokes, it’s just my husband and myself and my two small daughters.

It wouldn’t be the first time I have smelled it, but we just moved 250Km away from our old house and it appears to be new here.

I actually just started smelling it again, after I started writing this. Like I said, I am no stranger to any of this, and have about 3 books on the go right now, but I am becoming a little disconcerted over what my daughter has been plagued with lately.

I am hoping that someone out there could help me.

My daughter who is ten and has seen ghosts all of her life, has come to me because she is being bothered by one in particular. He has an odd description. He looks as if he is on fire. He wear no shoes, only cut off shorts and a T-shirt. But the main, more disturbing thing is he has an orange/red aura about him.

He has followed us from our previous location to our new house, and is appearing more frequently to her here.

I don’t know where you stand on angels, but I did some research and there are angels that look like this, but he doesn’t appear to have any wings, which I would think even though they don’t in the bible, might be an easier way for it to identify itself to my daughter.

I could, of course, be wrong, and it could be an entity that is just plaguing her, which upsets me, or it could be that I did call on an angel just before he showed up to help ease her mind about our move to a new city, and new school etc.

I did ask God for an angel, and strangely wasn’t the first time I asked, or got one.

So I am very confused. Has anyone out there heard of such a being before? Any help would help put my mind at ease and comfort a small child.

Thanks for this board, it’s come at a momentous time for me!!

As a Mum I can imagine how anxious you are feeling for your daughter. I am not a practitioner and I am sure others will join the conversation once they become aware of this thread.

In the meantime however, would your daughter be interested in asking her ‘friend’ what he wants? Sometimes confronting the matter can be enough to either ground it or at least progress it. But, of course, you need to use your judgment in this as your daughter’s health, in every aspect, is what is paramount.

Oh, and have you helped her to build a psychic shield to protect herself?

      Cheers

Sadly, I have talked about these things with her, but have not done them. I believe she will think I am crazy when I try to help her with a shield, and she is too afraid to ask him what he wants. I try to help her by holding her hand and telling her not to be afraid, because I have seen so many spirits in my lifetime I would hate her to have to live a life of fear. I just reside with them now, like neighbours.

If you hold her – that suggests that one of you is afraid.

(warning: my values) If it is her, then wouldnt it be ideal to get her involved and help her to have some control of the situation?

How do you guard against being hurt yourself? There may be something you do, unconsciously perhaps, which you could teach her to do. It could be couched as a mother/daughter thing; a game; etc.

I strongly suggest that you do something Courtney rather than drift on this.

Your daughter is reaching the age of puberty and while the jury is out on this, some suggest that poltergeists are particularly active at this stage of life. (Better to be forewarned?)

          Cheers

I was always searching for a community like this because, for the past few years, I’ve been experiencing some phenomenons around me and with some people who are linked with me…

I want to find out the reasons and answers which is unanswered, the mystery which I am unable to solve after lots of trials.

    Dear Courtney,
When I was your daughter’s age I was having near identical experiences.

Sadly my experiences were trivialized by my parents (but they could not hide their suppressed fear of the subject from me). I found my own way through this part of my childhood all alone when I began to ask God and angels for help. I asked for an angel to be placed on all four sides of the house, plus one up above and one below the house. This worked very well for me and was somewhat of a revelation, divine help had become tangible.

This method still works and I am now nearly sixty.

Your daughter is on her special journey of life, and with the level of caring and openness that you have for her, she can only become the better person for it.

Please don’t worry more than a parent should. (Incidentally, I read some time back, that the glowing red-orange auras may signify visits from the souls of our very ancient ancestors). I hope this helps you a little.

Ill leave Courtney to respond but in the meantime, as a mother, I love your bit “Please don’t worry more than a parent should”.

Just wanted the group to know that I just finished reading “Paranormal Family and Friends” by Frank R. Santariga and so far it gets my vote as the best book this year on the paranormal. The variety of subject matter gives you a quick look at the different areas there are in the paranormal phenomenon. Make sure you read it, I guarantee you will love it.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Im putting a link here (affiliate) for those who want to know more.

      This is the publisher’s description:

Most individuals who follow the paranormal don’t realize that one of the best sources for finding people who have had paranormal, psychic, or UFO experiences could be their own family and friends. In Paranormal Family and Friends, author Frank Santariga reveals some of the best cases of his twenty five years as a parapsychologist, stemming from family members, friends, and neighbors. What makes these events fascinating is that he personally knows the people who recounted the incidents and can attest to their impeccable character. In the cases where family members are retelling experiences of their close friends or relatives, they too, unconditionally vouch for the integrity of the narrator. From the author’s mother’s vision of cousin Adrian at her moment of death to his Brother Alfred’s encounter with the Florida “Skunk Ape” and UFOs, you will be drawn in by these remarkable and mystifying accounts of the paranormal.

Im pleased to see the author Frank Santariga is a member of the Parapsychological Association in Britain – always a good sign, in my opinion.
Here is Frank’s entry on that website.

I also see the book is available on kindle – a bonus for someone like who who’s endeavouring to lighten the bookshelf load 🙂

      Cheers

    Hello, Rosemary,
I am professional psychic with 20 years of experience including missing persons cases. I have recently expanded my practice with the addition of a website and I now offer phone and SKYPE readings internationally.

I am a practical person who likes proof of what comes to me psychically which I suppose makes me an “Evidential Psychic and Medium” in today’s terminology.

I have read for a great variety of people from all walks of life including some in law enforcement.

All readings are taped by the client to provide a permanent record and to safeguard the client’s private information.

I am interested in the sort of work being done Dr. Gary Schwartz which is why I find your site interesting.

I look forward to answering your 2011 Survey and to reading the articles and following the links you provide.
    Best Regards, Delia O’ Riordan

    Hi, Rosemary,

Thank you for your personal note of welcome – a nice surprise given the usual mechanical notifications one is accustomed to!

Re: flying below the radar. I’m afraid I did that for decades, too. I finally resolved the issue by adopting my middle name and resuming the use of the Irish form of my too-long Anglcised surname so family members wouldn’t be embarassed when I went online.

Re: the surveys. Thank you, I’ll do both of them this weekend.

I’m looking forward to the ‘robust discussions’. Despite practising as a professional psychic, my left brain is far from moribund. I have a strong scientific bias thanks to a professor who gave me failing grade for Physics in my first year. My concentration was Comparative Literature but Physics was a required course for all students. Go figure… In any case, I Aced the course on the second go and have tried to keep up with current theory in quantum physics ever since.

My abiding passion is Consciousness, its nature, origin, apparent capacity to evolve, etc. I believe if you’re Conscious, you’re Psychic. (That includes animals). By suppressing this natural ability, I think we are holding back evolution and the planet is paying a huge price for it. So bring on the robust discussions!

I look forward to a lively exchange with your online community.

    Cheers,
    Delia

    Hi Rosemary,
The paranormal is normal to me, and I was so happy to find a kindred soul when I discovered your web site.

I’ve been interested in psychic phenomena since my teenage years and pursued a career in psychic development as a student, a teacher, and an intuitive counselor. I added psychotherapy to my practice by receiving a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology. I invite your readers to peruse my blog, “Numerology for Smart People.”

Your web site is so fascinating because you cover every expression of psychic phenomena in a sensible, grounded, and informative manner.

    Thanks so much.

What’s “moderate”? I’ve had many experiences personally that teach me (or remind me, rather) that the physical world is not all there is. Others in my family, and trusted sources beyond, have had similar, often more extreme, experiences. I am a scientist and hence a professional sceptic, but in the best possible way, in that I treat all evidence with an open mind but aware of as many possible explanations as I can think of. The weight of published evidence (scientific and popular press) is quite overwhelming in demonstrating that there is much about our world of perception and consciousness that cannot be explained by purely materialist science. Indeed, there are many scientists at the forefront of research in physics and consciousness studies that also accept this and perform what studies they can with very limited funding for this sort of work. I believe it is a matter of time before this becomes mainstream and a whole new view of what it means to be ‘human’ develops. In the meantime, I’m enrolled at a Rudolf Steiner teacher training course (Warranwood), where I learn Steiner’s view of “spiritual science”, to augment my years of personal studies in consciousness, psychic and spiritual phenomena, NDEs, OBEs, reincarnation, etc. The more these experiences are discussed, revealed and validated, the more general acceptance will grow and the science mainstream will be forced to open up new fields of research. What a true Renaissance in human evolution that will be!
