Demons and Other Evil Spirits

From a member: I just want to see if you have had any feedback from other members regarding any encounters with Demons. I have!

The Experience

Last Wednesday evening, around 6:00PM I was woken by, what could only be described as extremely loud hissing, snarling and growling, coming from the right hand bottom of my bed.

As it was only 6:00PM there was plenty of light, yet all I could see was black. In all my years I have never had such an encounter.

My wife and daughter did not hear the sounds, which were quite loud from my perspective.

Strangely enough I was not scared and  the “Demon” or whatever it was, moved on.

A rather interesting and educational experience from my perspective!!

Beginning the Conversation

I took this opportunity to search the experiences documented in the first round survey and yes, there are references to demons. Below are a number of extracts and links to other experiences that are recorded here at Psychic Revolution.

Unlike the experience above, it seems more people associate demonic figures with evil.

Read on to see the other side of the demon.

22. GOD, NUMBERS
A few experiences: Seeing numbers on clocks on a regular basis which end up being life changing events (Ex. 11:11 on clocks, at the time 21 yrs. old was going thru a depression, felt it meant new beginnings. I said I was sorry to God for some things and a white cloud came down & my knees buckled, from then on the light was on.)

The date that this happened was 11/01/99. Many years later I saw 9:11 on clocks on a regular basis, felt something bad was going to happen. It stopped the day before my brother killed himself. Five minutes before I got the phone call I said aloud to myself life is going so good something bad is about to happen.

Interestingly enuf my bro was born on 11/11/80. It’s been four years since and I have just in the last several months been seeing 9:11 again & am scared because I haven’t seen it in four years and am scared of what tragedy is about to befall me next.

At 23 years old I was making bad choices and kept seeing 4:44 on clock which meant judgement & one bad thing after another happened, growing consistently worse with each new consequence until I made the needed changes then I stopped seeing 4:44.

I have gazed into mirrors and seen things around/in my face at different times (people & yellow light and darkness). I have been punched in the stomach and it knocked the breath out of me while in a attic where negative spirits were channeled, a moment after I said they were shutting it down at 18.

I have prayed to God and felt a overwhelming joy/light like no earthly experience.

I have had visions and been spooked by demons in visions while praying in a house where there’s alot of negativite energy & it scared the crap out of me!

I have experienced an exorcism first hand (could have been from the attic). I have been prayed for by several people and felt chains dropping off of my body. I could literly feel them.

There’s more but it’s hard to explain it all. I am an INFP or ENFP 50/50% (personality type).

I seen a demon – that what priests described as allowing itself to be seen to me. It followed me around for couple years periodicly showing itself now and then.

My aunt seen it with me the first time I seen it. She will never forget what she seen.

1148. POLTERGEISTPSYCHOKINESIS
I was living as an au pair for a family who had recently moved into an older house in ….

From my first night there, when I felt someone was peeking at me from behind a corner while I lay down to sleep, I (and some of the family) experienced strange things.

The father was woken up by someone stomping up the stairs, on the first night I was there, and asked me about it the next morning. Not me.

The two year old son would wake up screaming every night between 1-2 am. The four year old son told his mother “don’t let the lady come out of the ceiling tonight”.

I experienced a strange continuous sexiness and I do not want to go into it in detail here but I behaved very differently from my usual self while in that house, such as never before or since. I later realise I must have been possessed.

The father of the family became frighteningly mean and raging ala The Shining. I believe he too was possessed. I used to see fleeting glimpses of someone passing by the door of my room, but there was never anyone outside in the hallway (which was a dead end in the direction the figure would go).

The plumbing was consistently breaking down in the master bathroom. There was a continuous whistling in the basement, even on perfectly still days, of which I could never pinpoint the source. A neighbor asked me if I experienced strange things in that house and I said “No – why?” and he told me it was a haunted house.

There had been a murder there. I asked “where in the house?” and he told me “the master bedroom”. Many years later, having researched hauntings and possessions (I later experienced another possession) I came to the conclusion there was a demonic presence in the house, along with some other spirits who were being held there.

I know this sounds like the movie Poltergeist but it actually happened and I often wonder about the family and how they fared after my 2 month stay with them.

I have had senses of entities all my life, but since that event I have never attempted contact with ‘the other side’ having experienced something taking over my body and mind, and making me do things I would never do.

In an effort to bring more of the Internet to Psychic Revolution here is a video on demons.

Continuing the Conversation

Certainly, in the original survey there are a number of references to demons. I’m unsure how people choose whether to use the words demon, devil or evil spirit to describe their encounters. I’ve never had this experience and so don’t know what I’d call it.

Whatever you call it, have you ever seen, heard or felt a demon? Please share your experiences below. Have your experience of the demon been benign or malevolent?

I am so sorry to hear how distressed you are by what is happening to you.

I’m sure other members will respond to you but in the meantime…

I do wonder how much of your experience is your imagination running wild. Have you thought about that? Our imagination can take over especially in times of stress.

I wonder, do you actually see evil entities? Some people do and I think this is an important distinction. Please give us more information and I think we’ll be better able to help you.

    Cheers

    Hi Rosemary,

The phenomena being described by Secret Sshh is quite common.

When we are asleep the physical body is, at some point in the sleep cycle, in a paralised state. Usually, this has passed before we regain consciousness but occasionally the paralysis carries over into wakefulness.

The brain can then go into panic mode for a few seconds trying to find a reason for the body being unable to move, and having no logical data to access, “imagines” some frightening scenario.

I hope this helps your contributor.

On the subject of demons etc, I used to live in a quite remote farmhouse in an area that had been a source of millstone grit building stone in the 18th &19th centuries.

A sensitive friend had told me of an encounter with a “bad feeling” as she was walking over the moors close to our home. I dismissed this until one day my cat was making a terrible crying sound at the back door.

As I went to open it, I felt a terrible presence and just could not make myself open the door. I went through to the front of the house and called the cat round, who raced past me to “safety”.

Although it was very real at the time I could not think of a logical reason why a normal wooden door should be a barrier to a discarnate entity. I did not encounter it again, but wondered if there had been a fatal accident in the quarries close by at some time in the past.

Wow Anne. Have you been reading around the topic or is this your medical training coming into play? I always wondered about sleep paralysis and can only imagine that it is the equivalent of being awake under anaesthetic. Terrifying and confusing.

Im not sure about demons myself Sean. Perhaps I get them confused with Christianity’s idea of the devil? Not sure.

Re animals: if they do see paranormal things, then surely they are like we humans – some do and some dont?

I meant whether pets can _become_ ghosts, not see ghosts. Ghost cats and dogs fighting at the end of the bed, lol.

An acquaintance of mine who can see things once stumbled across a strange thing that looked like a goblin snarling and hissing in a street alcove at the Swiss Grande at Bondi Beach at night — I’m at a loss to explain what the thing was, it was neither human nor animal in appearance, apparently. It’s possible human ghosts might be able to manifest as something different in appearance? Or else it’s some sort of genuine non-human spirit. Or an ET spirit from across the cosmos. Who knows.

Oh Sean. LOL. Now I see what you mean. But, it does beg the question, what can animals see? Given their heightened senses I wouldn’t be surprised if some see more than we do.

As far as the goblin entity, could it be a demon??

And, if energy is neither created nor destroyed then maybe it can be transformed in the afterlife too? Maybe energy moves between the dimensions? have you read anything on that idea Sean?

      Cheers

        Only in Superman comics.

Still not sure what species a ‘demon’ might be, or whether they exist at all. They certainly crop up in the mythologies and cosmologies of many societies and religions, including the Islamo-Judaeo-Christian cosmology. If anyone has any further information or evidence, I would be intrigued to know more.

Id be intrigued to know more too Sean.

From my survey research it is interesting to note eg that people who are Christian or have a Christian background tend to see Virgin Mary and angels. Off hand , i dont recall more than one mention of the devil.

        Hi Rosemary,

Lots of things for me to think about in the previous blogs.

Ireland is not the only place where travellers are warned to beware of “faeries”. There is a famous bridge on the Isle of Man where travellers are told to be respectful of the little folk who live there. As these traditions are very old, I have often wondered just what is the root cause of the tradition and if indeed things do happen if the advice is ignored.

Maybe it’s just the subconscious of some susceptible people leading them to believe they have been tricked by the faeries, a sort of self hypnosis.

I once had an experience which was odd to say the least. I lived in a quite remote area of upper moorland at the time and thought I saw a very small, say two feet tall, brownie running through the rough reedy grassland behind my house. The area was sited on peet bog land and I did see will o the wisps around there, so maybe what I actually saw was an aberration caused by an upsurge of methane making the air appear different and reflecting the brownish green colours of the reeds.

I would like to think I have been privileged to see into another dimension, but these things happen too rarely and indeed very quickly, that the mind can easily be tricked into a wrong scenario when trying to make sense of something not previously experienced and just matches the event up to stored memory which could easily be a picture from a children’s book.

The same could apply to the goblin in the doorway, my poodle can look quite demonic when wet through and not wanting her haircut, so a stray animal cowering in a doorway, perhaps rabid, could produce an image of something from fiction.

I have read much on the myths and legends of Europe and the consistency of the reports makes it impossible to dismiss them out of hand. Just what creatures left this rich legacy I am at a loss to explain and would value the opinion of others as to what the formori and the firbolg of old Ireland were.

The Tuatha de Danon (forgive my spelling of these names) I believe could have been survivors of the Atlantis disaster who made it to European shores and survived long enough for their lifestyle and exploits to have been passed down into folk law. Blessings to all.

    Hi Rosemary,
I’ve just been reading through this thread again and it occured to me that fairy stories are full of these “demonic” encounters in various forms. Could it be that sprites, goblins, redcaps and other malicious entities of folk law are the same thing as the demons that plague god fearing people of today?

Centuries ago, in Pagan times, it would have been more common to link these unpleasant happenings with nature spirits but when the Christians came along with the Bible and stories of demons and devils, then the onus was transferred to them.

I can only think that the origin of these beings, for want of a better word, is the lower astral plane, and the shape of them takes the form of the memories of the sufferer, sometimes linked with sub-conscious memories of childhood fairy stories, and the energy from the fear generated gives the astral entities a visable form.

What do you and Sean think?

      Wow Anne

As a Mum, at first I was reluctant to admit that I had forgotten about the fairy tales and stories of childhood. However, when I think back over the books I read with my children, and this is my experience, they didnt really have demonic characters, as such. Series like Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events are centred on the evil in people. In the Harry Potter Series, I guess this evil is taken to a whole new level and there are creatures and forces in there that soem regard as demonic. So, working with your theory Anne, I wonder how the current generation will manifest such ogres as the Death Eaters? Will these characters become the demons of tomorrow?

Interestingly, some people maintain that JK Rowling, by the slight of her quill, has unleashed a whole new army of demons on our poor unsuspecting younger generation. She has certainly entered their psyche, big time. However, as I had no hesitation in buying her books for my girls I guess at soem level I valued more what she had to offer than any downside that may come with imaginary tales.

Have you read any of her books or seen the films Anne? What about your grandchildren? Given you background, do you talk about the characters in the Series?

      Cheers

      Rosemary

PS Thanks for the walk down memory lane – its been a long time since Ive thought back into their childhoods (even though they are still only 16 and 18)

        Hi Rosemary,

just found this entry on the blog.

Yes I have all the Harry Potter books and DVDs. My grandchildren are not old enough to read/watch the films yet, but my Daughter has them all ready for when the time comes to expose the children safely to them as the fantasy that they are.

I have never thought of them as allegorical and enjoy them as pure fiction, though on reflection can see there is a moralising element to them. I don’t think JK Rowling intended them to be a disguised form of information, even if they are in a subconscious form. I would be happy to have confirmation of her intentions but do not have the privilege of knowing her.

There is black and white, good and evil in many forms in this world and I truly believe the astral region to exist and malicious entities to dwell therein.

I also understand that some sections of the global society may be subconsciously programmed to interpret devils, evil spirits etc as satanic and earthbound. However, I view them as a different plane of existence interacting with us at a specific vibration, thus explaining why one person in a room may be affected and others not, and one needs to be sensitive to that vibration at the time.

I have no explanation how this may occur, but accept that prayer, exorcism and such vibrational level changes can dispel the unwanted entities.

      A story I just remembered:

A friend was travelling through Ireland a while ago with her boyfriend, in a camper. A local had warned them to be careful in a certain area, ‘because the faeries will play tricks on you’. Local lore, obviously.

Anyhow, they more or less disregarded the advice and were parked and camped at night. Suddenly her boyfriend was ‘struck blind’ — then went into a deep sleep. She was OK, but looked out the window of the camper to see a host of lights standing about 3-4′ tall, like a group of elves or dwarves. She (bravely) opened the door to the camper and stepped out into this group, who parted for her as she walked forward.

I don’t remember what happened to conclude, but they woke up in the morning and were OK — the faeries had indeed played tricks on them.

The question is, what were these short beings? People? Or something else?

      Reply
      • Rosemary Breen

Indeed, Sean what are these experiences?

Struck blind does not seem like an Australian term – whose words were they? And, what do they actually mean, do you know?

        and…

Your story reminds me of that famous picture of faeries dancing around 2? girls. Do you know the one I mean? It was held to be true for many year but later the hoax was admitted.

Anyway, that is by the by. I dont know the answer and am not aware of such reports in my survey. What does spring to mind is energy of place. Is it possible that certain places exhibit different energy forms?

Will have to see what others suggest.

        Ciao

There was a fake Victorian photo of 4″ (inch) fairies with insect wings of the picture book sort that I believe even Sir Arthur Conan Doyle endorsed, as he was interested in such phenomena — later shown of course to be a fake. The biology of having 2 humanoid arms and legs and then an extra pair of insect wings is a little questionable when you think about it, as for any winged humanoids — that would represent 6 limbs effectively!

These beings were simply described as glowing creatures with no real discernible features, but about 3-4′ (feet) tall.

The language of being ‘struck blind’ is pretty generic, not sure how else you would put it, lol. Seems to be telepathic interference with people, as with knocking someone out. Interesting the guy got knocked out, who is more likely to become aggressive and do unpredictable things.

Sometimes an evil influence happens to us and we might consider it to be self-imposed stress over an activity we are involved in that is fringe. That would be half right. An activity that is “off the reservation” meaning not part of the mainline societal behavior breeds demonic receptivity.

When there is a random act of demons or whatever evil beset the man is his bed, is an unknown experience of “why.” I would wager that maybe unknown to him consciously, he may doing some important spiritual work or moving humanity slightly forward in something he is working on, and one of the reactions would be “resistance” or evil giving him a bad time of it.

To me, the most interesting angle to his experience was, the evil forces prevented his wife and daughter from regestering the noises, feelings, and darkness in the room. It figures. No witnesses to confirm what was happening. That way, he looks like a rell nut-case. “I was there and I didn’t see any of that going on” kind of thing.

In the movie Exercist II with actor Richard Burton, what couldn’t be figured out was why this one girl out of all the girls in the population was singled out by Satan to have demons invade her body? The answer finally came, true to form, that this girl was destined to grow up and be a significant healer for the world. So evil powers that didn’t want that to unfold, weren’t going to let her destiny happen. If Satan could do anything to stop her from growing up and being an influence for good, Satan would do what disruptive actions he could to her. I recommend this movie Exercist II. It was great on the subject of “why” this person and not “that” person was being bugged by demons.

As I see it, “demons” are projections of the the “demons” of our mental state (mind); actual, troubled discarnate beings or dream images (which have their own interpretation) manifesting to sensitives.

This is such a fascinating discussion and very interesting experiences. I have been working with releasing confused souls into the light for many years. A couple of things I learned is never to argue with a violent soul and never to work directly with confused souls. I work through my guardian angels.

Another important thing I learned is if you keep your energy cleansed, confused souls cannot influence you. It takes discipline and awareness, and anyone can learn to do it. Keeping your environment cleansed (home, work, etc.) helps, too. Even so, sometimes people need a professional to heal the souls who are stuck here and send them into the light.

    Thanks for this discussion, Rosemary.
