Proof We Can Know The Future

Gazing at the Mind’s Eye

In this short presentation the parapsychologist Dean Radin explains two experiments that have been conducted at IONS (Institute of Noetic Sciences) and elsewhere in the world.

The first study investigates presentiment – that feeling about a future event – often felt as a sense of impending doom. This is not to be confused with precognition which, more strictly, means the knowing of the future.

In the presentiment study, participants are shown pictures chosen at random by a computer. Nothing remarkable here. However, what the experiment shows is that the measurements by a skin conductor (in layperson’s terms think lie detector) actually start to rise before an emotional picture is shown to the subject and, before a calm picture is flashed on the screen the skin conductance actually remains low and does not start to rise!

So, can we outguess a random process and predict the future? It would seem so and this experiment shows we do this three seconds in advance of the image being shown.

Of course, being a scientist, Radin has done due diligence on the results of the trials and he has investigated possible causes for this anticipatory phenomenon including computer programming errors and sensory queues and has eliminated each of them.

Interestingly, Radin notes that of the 33,000+ trials (people) that this test has been conducted on, those people who state prior to the experiment that they have precognitive abilities tend to perform better than average and, not surprisingly perhaps, psychotherapists, who have been trained in their job to ‘not respond’ perform the worst.

This whole presentiment thing gets even more interesting when the experiment is altered to track eye movements of the sitter. Unfortunately the video cuts out at this point but I think we get the idea of what science shows we are capable of doing.

Radin mentions a third experiment that is in the pipeline and it would seem this is based on the premise that the mind’s eye can influence the speed of light. I shall try and track this video report down and present it at a later stage.

Beginning the Conversation

I love Radin’s work. He is methodical, logical and a zealot for detail and Im sure he has thought of what has crossed my mind. We just don’t know this for sure because the presentation has been cut short. But…….. Could this be as much about the mind/machine interface as it is about the brain anticipating the future? Are we capable of influencing the computer to choose an image based on whether our skin conductance stays calm or rises?

Continuing the Conversation

Why not? I say. What do you think? Leave your thoughts below……

Were the Rodin’s experiments double-blinded? i.e. was the researcher present in the room, or did the researcher know, even if another room, what the next picture would be? In fact, were the researchers even allowed to be aware of what time a particular study was being conducted?

It’s possible if a researcher knew what the next picture was going to be, their pheromone levels could go up in a way that is subliminally detectable by other people, or other cues (a la Clever Hans) or in fact if they were invisible and in another room, it’s even possible they could be sending a psychic message which was detectable by sensitive subjects — around 3 seconds beforehand if they were anticipating the next picture!

These are possible counter-explanations — if the design methodology is flawed — which counter the notion of reverse time travel of information being detected quite that easily — one involves a chemical explanation of pheromones (other animals thrive on pheromones and scents), and the other an alternative psychic theory. Or else it’s possible people can predict stuff a few seconds in advance.

LOL Sean. Ive left your comment as is even though it sent me scrambling into the website and the recesses of my memory to recall when and in what context I blogged on Auguste Rodin 🙂

Anyway … Radin is one of the most exacting researchers in parapsychology. His background, in engineering and psychology and music, sees him well placed to understand binds, double-binds etc. His experiments tend to stand up under rigorous investigation. In fact, i read somewhere that those researching the paranormal are more rigorous than mainstream scientists – because they have to be. Their work is probably disproportionately more scrutinised than other scientific research which tends to remains within the four walls of academic institutions, until proven, or disproven, forgotten or overlooked.

You might be interested in Googling him Sean. I think Radin is one of the great minds in parapsychology today.

It seems that every time I write something about the future, I end up writing it in the now.:)

It’s not that far-out to consider the possiblities of seeing what is ahead.

In ways we do see the future without calling it that. That is, we expect a bill for payment to come near the beginning of the month which is the future. We sometimes have a psychic feeling that we have neglected a friend and presto the phone rings with your friend speaking to you.

It may be hard to see a happy future with the world is turmoil, much of it centered around the corrupt management of money. Or should we rather say, the dreadful job of money managers is to see the future!?

    Good day,

      Welcome Bill

I tend to think there are many possible futures Bill and the one that we experience will depend on the free will decisions made by everyone along the way. In this view of the world, how many permutations are there I wonder?

Yes, we anticipate the bill will be in the mail but many things can happen to change that, or not. Is it our expectation that wills things like bills into being 🙂 Now there’s a thought.

Using this line of reasoning, maybe it is that the money managers create the future, rather than anticipate it?

      What do you think?

        Hi All

I have for many years had personal experiences of being able to tell the future either years in advance or split seconds, from knowing what tune will come on the radio and I have already started to sing it, to a visual meditation of the Twin Towers being crashed into a year before I knew anything about it, or even took any interest in politics or the USA.

I am not a scientist yet through my own experiences, some to me seem just very basic psychic skills others more profound. I have tested my theory there can only be one outcome in the future. When the person discovering it through their mind, feelings or visions no longer doubts the accuracy of the source they are always spot on.

Imagine how incredible our natural abilities could become without doubt and what amazing benefits we can bring. Although that has always made me ask the question if it is bound to happen before I know it and then I know it what good is that because I cannot change it? Sometimes that seems cruel. I have yet to answer that!

          Hi Julie-Anne

Is the future cast in stone? Or, are there many possibilities? Do those who are gifted tap into one or even more of these possibilities?

We may not know the answer to this questions yet.

Indeed, you bring up the matter of personal doubt? Why do we have this quality? It protects us, yes, but as you say, it also holds us back. I for one am cursed at times with information overload and indecision.

What would a year of living without doubt look like? Anyone willing to try?

          Cheers and Welcome Julie-Anne

            That is huge Julie-Anne.

Everything is possible, I get that but…. I doubt I could do it for a week.

No, I could do it for a week.

I think our expansion happens naturally at the pace that is completely right for the individual so we can’t really get overwhelmed by all that information when it is formed from clarity.

Neither can we worry re time if the past, present and future are all in one mind. To know they are there can bring comfort and hope and also more awareness yet physically we are living in one plane to my knowledge. But hey that could all change!

          • Rosemary Breen

Yes, I think youre right Julie-Ann. Time does offer us hope and breathing space too.

But it may also potentially impede our ‘expansion’. Im thinking here along the lines of how the Catholic Church used to preach reincarnation but people used that doctrine to adopt a ‘tomorrow’ attitude (and the Church missed out on funding!). So, they removed reincarnation from their records!

I accept that everyone si different but narrowing the timeline does help someone like me focus, rather than drift – just look at what middle age is doing 🙂

            Ciao

          Hi Julie-Ann,

Can you foresee any big news items coming up right now? e.g. war in Iran or an invasion/occupation, nuclear armageddon, etc? Winners of horse races or lotto numbers?

I’m not just putting your claims to the test, I’m curious about Iran in particular, being serious for a moment…

I was driving past a council put-out of some minor building materials the other day when I noticed a 70s style sliding door with silver handles, and for some reason I paid particular attention to it and was very interested even though I have no use for anything like that.

A few days later, a close friend was doing some minor work sprucing up their kitchen, and since the new floor covering was silverish, they needed a new silver handle for their sliding door! Very odd, wonder if I had a time travelling moment given my emotional relationship to them.

            Hi Sean

Will leave Julie-Ann to reply for herself.

As a layperson however, I would suggest there is going to be something big happen in the Middle East. Iran, blockade, petrol price hike. It feels like there is more ‘shaking out’ to be done after the initial Arab Spring.

But this is more a political commentary mixed with intuition.

            Over to you Julie-Ann.

            Cheers

            Hi Sean

I haven’t had any world predictions since the Twin Towers as I had to overcome doubt of whether what I knew was true.

I am an integral lady and would hate to ‘make it up.’ If I predict something well off in the future there will not be proof until that time and that could drive a person who doubts their information mad.

I am more trusting now so if I do foresee anything I will let you know. I don’t want to win on the lottery and have had football results before. But mainly I have the intention to help others heal and expand.

Sorry if this sounds honest but it is a big thing you ask.

          • Rosemary Breen

            Hi Julie-Ann,

            Thanks for responding.

Dont be sorry for being honest.

There is another “type” of seeing the future that lives mostly in the unconscious mind, but there are even moments where a person consciously sees where things are going. It’s something I have been learning from personal experience.

What am I talking about? I have noticed the human tendency for people to desert a country club or other type of club they belong to, a church membership, a business when there is a feeling of impending doom as it was put earlier. Have you noticed that when groups such as I mentioned start falling apart or lose members, there is a funny thing that happens. People run to avoid the future that they see.

Just like rats getting off a sinking ship (which is seeing a dismil future), human beings get a feeling of a sinking organization and they leave. They cause an acceleration of a group going down hill. That dissertion is sort of seeing the future.

A person’s unconscious mind says that he or she need not be part of that future. Some people don’t see that they are being played by their own minds about the potential future of a group.

MMM. Interesting Bill. Wish I had this where the stock market is concerned 🙂

Is this quality more than intuition?

Perhaps you are suggesting that we have an innate ability which aligns to the animal kingdom – you know how animals go to higher ground before tsunamis etc.

Maybe we do have similar abilities, we just dont heed them? What about the sayings that involve words like smell, tainted, whiff, air of, on the nose? Do we actually smell decay before we se it? Isn’t the olfactory nerve the only one of our 5 senses that has a direct link to the brain?

Lastly Bill, if we consider the possibility that Psychic Revolution is the online equivalent of a club or church even, and you suddenly feel the need to leave, could you please promise to say goodbye? That way, if we havent noticed already we may pick up on that which has already registered with you 🙂

      Cheers

I tihnk we have instinctoid remnants, but don’t seem so good at anticipating earthquakes or tsunamis etc the way animals do — we seem to have entrained ourselves as a species to be bold and brash and ignore our environment!

Thanks Julie-Anne, next week’s lotto numbers or big events in geopolitics, either is OK. I mean, you foresaw 9/11 (do you know who really dunit?) so you should have confidence in the next big thing…

Speaking of reading people, did the astronauts in the Apollo program really land on the moon, or was it a hoax and pre-shot footage and they just stayed in earth orbit for a few days? The psychological slips of the astronauts in the moon movies by Bart Sibrel are really disturbing.

We have certainly moved away from nature Sean. That probably started to happen relatively recently – around the time of the Industrial Revolution I suggest. As an aside, I remember taking my children on a farm stay holiday – and I dragged my parents along. I wanted the girls to understand first hand what it was like for my parents to grown up on farms in the middle of nowhere. I now know only one family who has contact with the land – and they are fly in/fly out farmers. Sad really that we have become such an urban culture (but Im not volunteering to go back – was born in a one horse town called Cummins and we lived in a no horse town called Edilillie).

Oh dont bring up that old chestnut about Apollo 14 Sean. We may never know for sure but I did enjoy the film – what was it called? I dont think it was by Bart Sibrel.

If a message about the future is true or not, and about ‘any’ paranormal instinct that is arriving in one’s experience, the forces of modern culture, education, and our own Trickster Effects in the mind, work to dismiss these phenomena.

So doubt is often attending such experiences for the purpose of that person not looking into them too deeply.

I agree the evidence probably suggests that authorities are against a deeper investigation of the paranormal but, as is often the case, the impetus and the momentum will come from the groundswell.

In building my websites I have become so engaged in the cyber world that I realize how much of what goes on online is driven not by governments but, at least initially, by individuals.

We just keep the topic alive; keep talking, investigating and engaging with each other and the other worlds will unfold. Or so I think 🙂

The stock market doesn’t seem to be amendable too much to intuition. Maybe for someone. Not for me. More knowledge seems to bias chance in one’s favor when it comes to chance in investing for me.

I think that fear, too many people investing in the same thing (lack of individuality), and some manipulation of the market by evil folks (my paranoid side coming through) make it difficult to get a fix on the future of the market by using psychic thought.

I remember some psychics trying to invest in the late 70s. The first investment worked. The second investment resulted in them losing big-time. Does anyone recall that psychic investing attempt? Anyway, if someone can do it, good for him!

Bill I personally dont remember this but we do have a resident psychic in the financial pages stock market competition of our paper. Sometime the psychic does better than the dartboard (I kid you not) on a weekly basis but generally both are beaten by the final year school student!

I would think that the Stock market is open to influence – the trouble is that the influences are conflicted and many.

I think our natural instincts are to be in tune, intuition means we are ‘in tune’ with everything past, present and future. That being said we also have the old mechanism of fight or flight and this impedes are intuitive senses with fear and then reaction of fight or flight. As we release the old way the even or perhaps older way returns.

Regarding knowing earthquakes are coming without running I was in Santa Barbara in 2004 and just thought I would love to experience an earth quake. No judgement or logical thinking occurred post the thought, even though looking back what a weird thought. Later that night deep to the world in my hotel bed I was waken up by what felt like someone shaking me. I asked who was there and then drifted back to sleep. The next day I found out there had been a small earth quake nearby in San Francisco and the tremors were felt in Santa Barbara.

Through all of my own personal experiences of being able to know the future pre it happening it seems to bring a deep acceptance of that’s what is and I can’t fear it, even the thought of fear seems preposterous. This would seem okay if you didn’t realise most of my childhood was all about being scared of this and that and for years I felt emotionally, physically and mentally trapped. It wasn’t until I stepped out of that belief system and started to explore did I start to know more.

Perhaps people’s minds are too cluttered to recognise the subtlest movement of change and use old/new skills that help not hinder

Our minds are definitely repositories for so much, even too much clutter. Whereas in the past our day to day world extended in the physical plane no further than our native territory or county today we scan world events as though they were on our doorstep (which they are – butterfly effect springs to mind).

Are you advocating a ‘so what, now what’ approach Julie-Ann? Personally, I have found this thought has got me thru many situations without getting bogged down in the minutae.

Do we still need the flight or fight instinct? I suggest we do but in a new form. Life in the urban jungle requires a flight or fight drive I think. As the mother of teenagers I watch them learn, often the hard way and wonder why. We have learnt many things just by putting in the years on Earth. They seem to have to deal with a world that is so complex and nuanced and do so with a teenage brain.

      But I digress.

      Cheers

I’m not advocating a “so what, now what” approach, although it may end up like that.

I know the fight or flight comes from a need to survive like the animals. Only it has grown into a regular occurrance for someone to ‘get their back up’ over the silliest little thing.

If we develop the mind to use as a different form of protection we will no longer need this instinct. Respect for yourself builds strength, use of the field of energy around you as a form of protection when you understand your intention can influence this field to do things that stem beyond logic and using your voice to assert your needs rather than turn aggressive.

    I agree…, Why not?

A woman I had known my entire life died last week. The night before she died I dreamed I was at her wake. I was looking down from the ceiling. I saw all the people in this particular family that had died before her sitting in chairs and people coming up to them to say how sorry they were.

When the phone rang the next morning telling me she had died, I wasn’t surprised at all. I already knew.

And seeing as I think we all wrote our scripts before we were birthed, then yes, we can predict the future, seeing as *we* wrote it already.

The problem is remembering what you wrote before you came down 😉

I read that some people write really tight scripts, so they get to experience every single thing they wrote.

And others are pretty wide open (like a baseball field, no real end in sight). Mine is like that. I’ve decided that next script I write is going to be tighter. (grin) It’s just too wide open, which is probably why I’m interested in *everything*

What stood out in relief to me about Eden’s talk was the following. While he was gone from this side and was experiencing another side, a pretty girl kept appearing from time to time giving him support. She communicated with him nonverbally.

It’s a long story. The short of it is, after Eben recovered, he found out for the first time that he had a sister who passed away. That was the girl who had helped him during his over-there experience.
